Kitchens and Bathrooms, Part 2: Bathrooms

To continue the post from July 27th, Kitchens are becoming gathering areas, and therefore more than just the functional space they had been at the start of the 19th century. Bathrooms are just as important, and still maintain the functionality of space they have been since they were attached to homes. However, now they are becoming luxury spaces in homes/apartments/condos mostly because of disposable income and a need to update old fixtures. (read more)

Kitchens and Bathrooms, Part 1: Kitchens

If you really sit back and think about what rooms in a home/condo/apartment are most used, it tends to be one or two, maybe three. Kitchens and Bathrooms are in those top three areas because you always need a glass of water, or a snack, or nature is calling you, when you are at home. If you eat out more often than in, your kitchen will see less use, until you start cleaning the leftovers out of the fridge. For most homeowners or families, they like to entertain, or they have kids that eat at least two meals at home. Those same kids get messy more often than they are clean, and that is why the Bathroom is often a major project. (read more)

The Napoleon Project

It all started as a water heater failure in their mobile home. The sub floor was damaged in the middle of their home, in the bathroom and the kitchen. Due to the nature of the damage, their home spent 4 weeks drying out. We had to demolish their living room, kitchen, bathroom and hallway. Only the bedroom would remain largely untouched. Since it was a mobile home, everything in it had been custom made to the home. We had only 4 weeks to reconstruct their house and could not give them the same level of customization in that time frame; however, we gave them every opportunity to choose the finishes going into the remodeled home.
